Welcome to the city that never sleeps! Pulsating, Alive, On the Move, Vibrant, Fun - this is Mumbai or as it is still frequently referred to - Bombay.

The most modern city in India, it captures the spirit of the changing pace set by liberalization and modernization
Once a cluster of seven islands, Mumbai was presented to King Charles II in 1661 as part of the dowry when he married Princess Catherine de Braganza of Portugal. Over the years, as colonialism gave way to Independence, Mumbai has transformed itself into an entity with thriving markets, business houses and many different communities reflecting a cosmopolitan and trendy atmosphere rarely seen elsewhere. It is the capital of Maharashtra state, and its official language is Marathi although English and Hindi are widely spoken and understood.

Mumbai, the financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India, generates 5% of India's GDP. The city offers good connectivity for the domestic as well as international sectors.

It also houses important financial institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India, the SEBI and the corporate headquarters of numerous Indian companies and multinational corporations.

The city also houses India's Hindi (Bollywood), Marathi film and television industry.
Mumbai's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, attracts migrants from all over India, making the city a melting pot of many communities and cultures.
